About

Our work

Many businesses in the South West are reliant on natural resources to be successful, and more than half of all jobs in the region are directly dependent on the area's ‘natural capital’. The South West is also more dependent on farming and tourism for employment than any other in the country.

But the area is vulnerable to natural hazards such as extreme weather, flooding, and pollution.  This creates huge potential for SWEEP to make a difference to the region by driving natural capital-led economic growth.

Cutting across all areas of natural resource, including land, air, fresh water and sea, SWEEP will enable experts and businesses to work together to solve some of the challenges associated with working with these precious assets.

Our team

The SWEEP academic team combines diverse expertise in environmental science, environmental economics and engineering with great enthusiasm for achieving impact from research.
